Machine Mechanic
OSG is looking for a qualified Machine Mechanic to work onsite at our Carol Stream, IL production facility.
Our Machine Mechanic will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as inserters (non-intelligent and intelligent), folders, stitchers, and conveyors by performing the following duties to maintain quality and time quotas in accordance with company policy and Standard Operating Procedures:
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Ability to handle all essential duties of lower level positions within the department (i.e., set up and run machines) on an as needed basis.
- Performs preventative maintenance of machines by cleaning and oiling parts as required.
- Examines form and texture of machine parts to detect imperfections.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Ability to work on own with minimal supervision and follow instructions of supervisor.
- Starts equipment to test performance.
- Performs housekeeping duties as needed to keep the work area clean and clear of debris.
- Abides by the policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 1 to 2 years post-high school training in industrial maintenance program or 2 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret common technical journals and schematic drawings. Ability to read in English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customer, clients and other employees of the organization.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus in order to accurately watch machines and stock.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Forklift, lift trucks in motion around the production floor.
